HighBrow Studios is a semi-permanent brow studio (cosmetic tattoo) located in the heart of Tuckerton, NJ. The artists at HBS are fully insured, board certified and recognized by the NJ (Ocean County) Health Department. Currently, HBS is exclusively offering brow services (ie.: powder, nano or a combination of both). All services are considered brow tattoo. “Powdering” is a dusty buildup of pixelated color to achieve a soft, filled in look, whereas “Nano” is a technique where more intentionally placed strokes are created to mimic the look of hairs. Which technique is best for you will be discussed at the time of your appointment. All appointments are scheduled for 2 hours. When you arrive, “before” pictures will be taken. A quick consultation will take place and then your artist will map out the best brow shape for your face. The tattoo itself does not take 2 hours but your artist needs enough time to create the best set of brows for you. Once finished, “after” pics will be taken, aftercare and what to expect during the 4-6 week healing time will be discussed and your touchup appointment will be scheduled. Healing varies from client to client based on factors such as age, skin type, skin care and which service was provided. It takes approximately 7-14 days for your brows to fully heal. During this time it is recommend to keep the brows clean & dry. You will return to the shop at 6 weeks time for your “perfecting session” (not included in original price.) The 6 week touchup is considered industry standard. Although is not required, almost ALL clients prefer the second appointment. During the healing process, the brows lighten up to 30% and oftentimes present small imperfections or asymmetries. At your touchup, your artist can adjust the size, shape and color to your liking. The artists at HBS take a conservative approach to designing brows. We could easily cram as much ink into your skin as possible at your first appointment, consolidate the cost into one larger price tag and send you on your way, but once the tattoo is there, it’s there for good. We prefer to start slow and buildup the brow to allow the client to enjoy the changes rather than regret the choice. Brow Tattoo is an elective beauty procedure. The results can truly be life changing. While the artists at HBS do use high quality numbing agents, there should still be an expectation of minor discomfort. Most clients report minimal to zero pain. Clients with highly sensitive skin should anticipate a brief period of redness and swelling following their appointment. NOTE: topical anesthetics used during the procedure may contain lidocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and/or epinephrine. Don’t let your fear of temporary, mild pain be to deciding force to keep you from moving forward :) The form of brow tattooing done at HBS is considered “semi-permanent”. Most clients will experience an even fade over time. Variables including skin type, skin care routine, sun exposure, etc. will greatly affect your long term results. Most clients return to the shop every 12-36 months for refresh appointments (to be expected!). While annual maintenance is standard and most times to be expected, too many touchups can lead to poor results. Despite brow tattooing being relatively gentle, it is still a a tattoo that does break skin and does cause mild scar tissue. Also, after every session, a residual amount of pigment is left in your skin. If adequate time is not allowed in between appointments for your body to metabolize the ink, there is potential for discoloration and over saturation. BROW TATTOO IS A LOW MAINTENANCE SERVICE, NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR A ••NO•• MAINTENANCE SERVICE. If you are someone who demands absolute perfection, respectfully, we are not the studio for you. The human face is far from perfect and total symmetry is nearly impossible to achieve. Skin is a live organ with zero predictability. Perfect shade consistency throughout each brow or side to side is a tall order. As your artist, I will strive for overall balance and improvement of your brows, but will NEVER guarantee perfection. If you’ve historically taken 15 minutes to obsess over your brows but now take 5 seconds to dab a tiny bit of makeup (so-to-speak) on them, then I’ve done my job! Lastly, results are never guaranteed. Every client is unique and factors such as lifestyle choices and skin tone/texture will affect individual results.
